Summary

Egg Monster Hero is a DS RPG spin‑off of the quirky Hanjuku Hero series. It launched in Japan on March 24 2005 as Square Enix’s first title for the handheld. The core mechanic relies on the stylus: you drag your Egg Monsters into battle and unleash combo attacks. A quick mobile‑phone version followed on June 6 2005. Although a North‑American launch was planned, focus‑group feedback led Square Enix to pull the plug.

In its home market the game edged into the top‑150 best‑sellers of 2005, moving just over 92 k units. The quirky art style and tap‑drag combat made it a memorable footnote for fans of experimental RPGs.

Storyline

Egg Monster Hero opens with Lord Almamoon growing complacent after a string of Egg Monster invasions. His minister, Sebastian, decides the only way to get him back on track is to send him to a remote island for training. The island assignment kick‑starts the game’s story, pushing Almamoon into the adventure that follows.
