Storyline

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride follows a six‑year‑old Hero who travels the world with his father Pankraz, a former king searching for his lost wife and the Legendary Hero. After Pankraz is slain by the Order of Zugzwang’s Ladja, the boy and Prince Harry are sold into temple slavery, only to escape ten years later and begin a quest that takes them from a haunted tower to an ice mansion, a fairy village, and finally the sky‑bound castle Zenithia.

The Hero’s journey soon turns personal: he must win the hand of either the tomboyish innkeeper’s daughter Bianca, the wealthy Nera Briscoletti, or the newly added Debora Briscoletti in the DS remake. After marriage he returns to his homeland of Gotha, becomes king, and faces the kidnapping of his wife, who is turned to stone. Eight years later his children revive him, and together they collect the Zenithian armaments, defeat Ladja, and restore the Dragon God and Zenithia.

The climax brings the family to the dark world of Nadiria to rescue the Hero’s mother Madalena, only to see her fall to Grandmaster Nimzo. The Hero defeats Nimzo, returns to Gotha for a joyous celebration, and watches his ancestors Pankraz and Madalena smile from the heavens, content with the legacy of their descendants.
