Storyline

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride tells the saga of a boy who grows up alongside his king‑father, Pankraz Gotha, while searching for the fabled Legendary Hero.

The early chapters see the child meeting his loyal attendant Sancho, befriending the tomboy Bianca, and retrieving a mysterious Golden Orb from the haunted Uptaten Towers. After Pankraz is slain by the Order of Zugzwang’s Ladja, the hero and his friend Prince Harry are sold into slavery, forced to labor on a massive temple.

Ten years later they escape, and the hero undertakes a quest for two magical rings to win the hand of Nera Briscoletti, though the DS remake also lets him choose Bianca or Debora. Returning to his homeland of Gotha, he is crowned king, only to have his wife kidnapped and turned to stone by monsters.

His twin children, the future Legendary Hero and his sister, revive him; together they gather the Zenithian sword and armor, defeat Ladja, and restore the sky‑castle Zenithia.

The family then descends into the dark world Nadiria, rescues Madalena briefly, and slays the god‑dark Grandmaster Nimzo. At the joyous conclusion, Pankraz and his wife watch their descendants from the heavens.
