Summary

Digimon Story: Lost Evolution lands on the Nintendo DS as the third entry of the Digimon Story line, offering a traditional turn‑based RPG experience that feels right at home among the franchise’s digital monsters. I was struck by the way Bandai Namco built hype back in 2009 with a cryptic “RPG_LOST” countdown website that vanished on November 20, officially unveiling the title and promising a 2010 launch. Although it remained a Japan‑only release, the game still made a noticeable splash, debuting as the fifth‑best‑selling launch‑week title and moving over 42,000 copies. Japanese magazine Famitsu awarded it a solid 30/40, reflecting consistent, if not groundbreaking, gameplay. Thanks to the fan‑translation crew Operation Decoded, English‑speaking players finally gained access in early 2023, opening the doors to a hidden gem of the handheld era.

Storyline

Digimon Story: Lost Evolution drops you into a sudden shift from a school fireworks ceremony to the Digital World.
You play as either Shu, a fifth‑grade boy, or Kizuna, his female counterpart, both new to the district.
After a mysterious glowing object crashes into the mountains, they awaken partnered Digimon and must navigate this strange realm.
Their classmates join the adventure: Hiroyuki, the curious troublemaker; Asuka, the caring older‑sister type; Hiroyuki’s little sister Yui, and her friend Takuto, a first‑grader.
Together they confront the villainous trio Uno, Dos and Tres, protecting both worlds from their schemes.
