Summary

Storyline

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin takes place in 1944 Europe amid World II. The protagonists are Jonathan Morris, son of John Morris from Bloodlines, and Charlotte Aulin, a mage of the Belnades line. Jonathan wields the Vampire Killer whip, but can only unlock its full power with help from the Lecarde family, while Charlotte provides magical support.

Most of the action occurs in Dracula’s rebuilt castle, which Brauner has reshaped using souls from the war. He creates portrait portals that lead to pocket dimensions, each with its own visual style. Inside the castle the duo confront three vampire lieutenants—Brauner, and his twin daughters Stella and Loretta, who are actually Eric Lecarde’s children turned by Brauner. After defeating the twins, Charlotte cures them and they grant the Ritual that lets Jonathan fully unleash the Vampire Killer.

The heroes then face Death, who attempts to revive Dracula. Death kills Brauner, breaking the seal to the throne room, and the final fight pits Jonathan, Charlotte, Death‑merged Dracula, and Death itself. With the Sanctuary spell and the fully powered whip they defeat the monster, watch the castle collapse, and receive a farewell from Eric’s ghost.
