Summary

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 brings the thrill of a global hunting trip straight to the DS, but the adventure soon flips into a pulse‑pounding chase from Africa’s most lethal predators. The game follows American marksman Cole Rainsford and his estranged father as they face man‑eating beasts deep in the wilderness. Beyond the single‑player trek, the title packs shooting galleries and multi‑level multiplayer modes that let you pit friends against each other. Released in the U.S. on October 26, 2010, Activision and Cabela’s teamed up to bring the hunt to handheld gamers, and the mix of arcade shooting and survival caught some attention. Critics gave it mixed reviews, pointing out that the handheld experience felt stretched between realistic tension and lightweight mini‑games.

Storyline

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011 (often just called Dangerous Hunts 2011) opens in 1982 when Samson Rainsford and his associate Mbeki explore Ugandan caves hunting the legendary Kaftar, a demonic beast said to be vulnerable only to fire. The creature ambushes them and Mbeki’s gunfire proves useless.

In 2001 Samson trains his elder son Cole in Alaska. After Cole bags an elk and a cougar, the trio tracks a rogue grizzly. An avalanche separates Cole from his father and younger brother Adrian; Cole kills the bear, but a pack of red‑eyed black wolves attacks, killing Adrian.

Ten years later, now a professional big‑game hunter, Cole reunites with Samson and Mbeki in Uganda to hunt the Kaftar again. A hippo capsizes their boat, and increasingly aggressive wildlife—blamed on the Kaftar by locals—forces Mbeki to abandon a wounded Cole.

Cole discovers Mbeki in a ruined research facility where the “Nightfall Program” tried to replicate the Kaftar’s animal‑control powers before the creature escaped. Mbeki dies, Samson is killed by a land mine, and hyenas seemingly controlled by the Kaftar pursue Cole. He reaches Samson’s cabin, traps the striped hyena‑like Kaftar inside the burning structure, and escapes.
