Summary
Brothers in Arms DS drops the gritty World War II squad tactics onto the DS’s dual screens, letting the bottom panel become a tactical keypad. Using the stylus you issue orders to your AI teammates while sprinting across beaches, ducking behind ruined houses, or hopping into a tank. The campaign stretches across sixteen missions, each packing a mix of assault rifles, sniper scopes, bazookas and grenades, and the game even lets you drive armored vehicles for a brief fire‑support burst. When three friends connect, the handheld morphs into a chaotic multiplayer arena, with several modes that keep the battle hot‑wired to the touch screen. A year later Gameloft shipped a stripped‑down iOS version called Hour of Heroes, proving the formula works beyond the DS.
Storyline
In Brothers in Arms DS you step into the boots of Corporal Bernard “Barney” Hill, a member of the famed 101st Airborne Division. The campaign follows Hill’s gritty journey across three pivotal World War II fronts: the North African sands of Tunisia, the storm‑laden beaches of Normandy, and the bitter winter battles of the Ardennes. Each mission puts you in the thick of airborne assaults, infantry firefights, and tactical maneuvers that defined the Allied push. The game’s narrative ties Hill’s personal grit to the larger historic push against the Axis.
