Summary

Disney’s Bolt for the Nintendo DS drops you into the fast‑paced world of the film’s TV series, letting you alternate between the superhero‑dog Bolt and his nervous owner Penny. The DS version strips away voice acting, opting for on‑screen captions that guide the action, which feels oddly cinematic for a handheld. Bolt’s levels keep the core attack and super‑power combos from the console releases, while Penny sections shift to simple puzzle‑solving and stealth.
A quirky side‑track, Rhino’s Mission, lets you guide Bolt through maze‑like corridors, ducking cannons and other hazards for extra points. Even without the polished graphics of the bigger consoles, the game captures the movie’s humor and the “everything‑is‑awesome” vibe, making it a fun pocket companion for anyone who liked the animated adventure.

Storyline

In Bolt for the Nintendo DS, players control the TV‑show version of the super‑dog Bolt and his human sidekick Penny as they chase the villain Dr. Calico across five international locations. Bolt uses powers like Laser Eyes and Superbark to blast enemies, while Penny relies on her wheelbar for stealthy takedowns.

The adventure begins when Calico kidnaps Penny’s father, prompting the duo to travel from Italy to Belize, the Yucatán jungle, the Russian Arctic, and finally China, uncovering a weapon built from Penny’s father’s satellite mirrors.

After a showdown in the Arctic where Bolt destroys a rocket, the pair sabotages Calico’s harbor ship, pursues him onto a train, and tracks his jet to a hidden base.

Inside the base, Calico drains Bolt’s powers and attempts to use the satellite array to neutralize all nuclear weapons except his own.

Bolt regains his abilities, defeats Calico in a lightning‑filled battle, and destroys the missile launch while Penny rescues her father, ending with an epilogue that hints at her continuing fight.
