Summary
Bleach: The Blade of Fate lets you dive into the Soul Reaper action with up to three friends, picking from a roster of 28 fan‑favorite characters. Each fighter brings their signature special attacks, Bankai transformations and Zanpaku‑to, so the combos feel as flashy as the anime.
The game’s dual‑plane system lets you jump between foreground and background, supporting two‑to‑four‑person battles that can be AI‑driven or linked via Nintendo Wi‑Fi or local DS wireless. Controls blend the D‑pad and four face buttons for light, medium and heavy strikes, while the touch screen triggers the flashy RF moves and card‑based abilities. An added anti‑air mechanic means ground attacks can’t be blocked mid‑air, opening fresh trap opportunities.
Beyond the fights, the title’s soundtrack features "Ichirin no Hana" by High and Mighty Color, and it earned a spot as IGN’s Best Fighting Game of 2007. Japanese reviewers gave it solid scores—Famitsu’s 31/40 and Cube + Advance’s 30/40—while Metacritic recorded generally favorable reviews.
Storyline
Bleach: The Blade of Fate follows Ichigo Kurosaki on his quest to save Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, who is slated for execution after she gave Ichigo her powers so he could protect his family from a Hollow. The game’s story modes differ for each playable character, and after finishing the Rescue Rukia segment players can unlock an additional 22 episodes. A 23rd episode expands the Soul Society arc, beginning with Ichigo’s fight against Ganju Shiba and ending with Sousuke Aizen’s betrayal.
