Summary
Bee Movie Game lets you step into the striped shoes of Barry B. Benson, the bumbling honey‑making hero from DreamWorks’ cartoon. From the DS screen you can zip through New York’s streets in race cars, scooters and even taxicabs, then blast off sky‑high using Barry’s "Pollinator" or a simple "Buzz" charge. The hive‑side sections let you master frantic nectar‑collecting chores while the outside world challenges you with obstacle‑smashing and a nifty "Stop Time" mechanic that feels oddly satisfying on a handheld.
Two‑player mini‑games add a competitive twist, and fans get a real treat hearing Jerry Seinfeld, John Goodman, Patrick Warburton and Tress MacNeille reprise their film voices. Vicarious Visions handled the DS version, debuting on October 30, 2007, and it stands out as one of those quirky licensed titles that packs surprisingly varied gameplay into a portable package.
Storyline
In the Bee Movie Game for Nintendo DS, Barry B. Benson graduates from BU University and heads to the honey factory Honex with his best friend Adam. Dissatisfied with a life of endless honey‑making, Barry joins the Pollen Jocks, learns to make flowers bloom, collect nectar, and even fight hornets, wasps, and dragonflies.\n\nAfter a rainstorm forces him to seek shelter in Vanessa and Ken’s apartment, Barry discovers humans are stealing honey. He confronts store owner Hector, chases a honey‑laden truck, and documents a honey farm to prove the theft. A squad of wasps attacks, but Barry repels them and later defeats the head beekeeper, Freddy, who tries to smoke the hive.\n\nBarry and Adam eavesdrop on defense lawyer Layton T. Montgomery’s plot at La Couchon, infiltrate Montgomery’s house disguised as a fly, and break into a safe for incriminating papers. When Hector captures Adam, Barry rescues him and evades sprinklers using his bee reflexes, wrapping up the game’s quirky, action‑packed storyline.
