Summary
Another Time Another Leaf: Kagami no Naka no Tantei (often just called Kagami no Naka no Tantei) follows Sakurane Kaede, a teenage girl who discovers a duplicate of herself staring back from a mirror gifted by her late mother. The mysterious twin, known as Ageha, possesses the ability to slip a few moments into the recent past, letting her observe and interview people about unresolved events—though she can’t interact physically or bring anything forward. Together, Kaede and Ageha hunt down the odd occurrences and hidden grudges that linger in their small town, turning each glimpse into a puzzle piece. Released exclusively in Japan for the Nintendo DS on April 23, 2009 by Arc System Works, the title never saw a Western launch, making it a quirky hidden gem for fans of narrative‑driven, time‑bending mysteries.
Storyline
Another Time Another Leaf: Kagami no Naka no Tantei (often shortened to Kagami no Naka no Tantei) follows high‑schooler Kaede Sakurane, who is devastated by her mother’s death. Her mother’s last gift is a tiny hand‑mirror that, when opened, reveals a girl who looks exactly like Kaede—her mirror‑self Akeha. The two personalities are opposites: Kaede is quiet and methodical, while Akeha is lively and impulsive, and the player must switch between them to advance investigations. When bizarre incidents begin to plague their school, Akeha can travel back in time through the mirror to uncover hidden details, whereas Kaede examines crime scenes and interrogates witnesses with her keen eye for evidence. Their combined efforts are essential to solving each case.
