Summary

Chopper Attack, known in Japan as Wild Choppers, is a third‑person helicopter shooter that landed on the Nintendo 64 in the late ’90s. The game drops you into a series of time‑pressured missions – from bombing enemy bases and rescuing POWs to escorting Air Force One through hostile skies – and rewards you with points for kills, damage avoidance, and keeping allies alive. I like how you can swap between different choppers and armaments, which makes each run feel like a fresh tactical puzzle. The title first showed up at the November 1996 Shoshinkai expo, where its intense aerial combat caught a lot of eyes, though a planned split‑screen co‑op never survived the final build. Critics were split: GameRankings averages a modest 54 % from ten reviews, with scores ranging from AllGame’s 2.5/5 to Edge’s 6/10, GameSpot’s 6.4/10 and IGN’s 5.6/10.
