Summary

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 made a surprisingly late splash on the Nintendo 64, becoming the console’s final official release in 2002—just three months after the system was discontinued. The N64 version runs on the Pro Skater 2 engine but adds a suite of fresh tricks, most notably the Revert, which lets you stitch vert combos together with a manual, and hidden combos that turn a simple kickflip into a double kickflip with a double‑tap. New moves like the Cannonball, Wrap Around, Fingerflip, Del Mar Indy and an updated Airwalk animation expand the flat‑land repertoire, while the enhanced Create‑a‑Skater now supports female characters and a Skatepark Editor for custom spots.

The roster features thirteen pros—Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Eric Koston, Rune Glifberg, Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer and Jamie Thomas—plus unlockable originals, and the game rewards skilled runs with hidden pro footage. Critics praised the title; GameSpot gave the N64 edition an 8.1/10, and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences honored it with the Console Sports award at the 5th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, also nominating it for Animation and Visual Engineering.

Storyline

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on the Nintendo 64 includes a memorable Airport level. In this stage the player’s goal is to chase down and stop pickpockets roaming the terminal. The mission replaces an earlier concept that would have had skaters thwarting terrorists planning to bomb the plane. The redesign shifted the focus to a lighter, more skate‑centric challenge. This change kept the level’s high‑energy vibe while avoiding controversial subject matter.
