Summary

Taz Express drops the iconic Tasmanian devil into a surprisingly earnest delivery job: you must shepherd a fragile crate across chaotic levels while keeping it intact. The game treats the crate as a life counter—three crate‑shaped lives disappear if the package is smashed, falls into water, or is hit by Taz’s own spin.

Energy is a ticking meter; a full bar lets Taz sprint and unleash his signature spin, but a depleted bar slows him to a crawl. Collecting all fifty hidden tokens in a stage rewards an extra crate life, while hazards like cars, lasers, and bottomless pits chip away at Taz’s health. The balance of speed, careful navigation, and token hunting creates a tense puzzle‑platform loop.

Originally demoed at E3 ’98 and ’99, the title slipped from a 1999 launch to a 2000 European release, never reaching North America after poor sales abroad. Critics were split, with scores ranging from a low 5% in Consoles + to an 88/100 from Nintendo Acción, reflecting the game’s polarizing blend of licensed charm and uneven execution.
