Summary

Susume! Taisen Puzzle Dama: Toukon! Marutama Chou lands on the Nintendo 64 as a Japan‑only puzzle fighter that feels like a polished Puyo Puyo clone. You clear three or more same‑colored balls to launch combos, which dump colored blocks onto your opponent’s side; matching those blocks releases the balls again, and the first side to overflow loses. The core mechanic is simple, but the frantic chain‑building makes each match feel like a high‑stakes tug‑of‑war.

The game boasts a colorful cast of twelve fighters, mixing eight veterans from the original Susume! Taisen Puzzle‑Dama with four newcomers from the spin‑off Taisen Tokkae‑Dama. Each character is voiced by a notable seiyū—Megumi Hayashibara lends her voice to Dokidoki☆Vanilla, while Hekiru Shiina doubles as both Mako‑Rin and her dark counterpart. Hidden bosses like Master Ichiba and the final foe Okugata‑sama appear only in CPU form unless you unlock them with secret battle‑mode codes.

For competitive play, the two‑player Battle Mode hides a few surprises: a secret “evil” palette swap of Mako‑Rin shows up as Dark Mako‑Rin, and the hidden characters become selectable only after entering specific button combos. Those little Easter eggs give the title a lasting replay value beyond its straightforward puzzle roots.
