Summary

Big Mountain 2000 (known in Japan as Snow Speeder) lets you strap on a snowboard or a pair of skis and race down four snowy courses as one of six uniquely skilled riders. You can tweak each character’s gear and clothing to boost speed, cornering or style, and the game tracks your progress with a stamina meter that punishes wipes and collisions.

Three main modes cover the experience: a single‑player Championship, a 2‑player Multiplayer showdown, and a Time Attack where you chase personal bests. Within each mode you can choose Free Ride, Slalom or Giant Slalom, and a battle‑style multiplayer option adds a competitive twist.

As you win races your Speed, Cornering and Cool stats rise, promoting you from Amateur up through Semi‑Pro, Professional and finally the titular Snow Speeder rank, each promotion unlocking a fresh set of gear.

Finish every race type on all four slopes and a mirror‑mode Championship appears; beating that twice unlocks three hidden characters hinted at in the manual.

Critics gave the title an average reception, hovering around the mid‑60 percent range on GameRankings, with scores that varied from 5.4/10 at GameSpot to 9/10 at GameZone.
