Summary
Pilotwings 64 whisks you into a sprawling three‑dimensional sky where you can pilot everything from a hang glider to a jet‑packed rocket belt. The game rewards precision: complete flight tests, earn a bronze, silver or gold license, and unlock bonus challenges that push your aerial skills even further.
You choose from six pilots, each with unique weight and handling quirks, then tackle the three core events. Hang gliding has you threading floating rings and catching thermals, the rocket belt lets you hover, tilt and pop balloons, while the gyrocopter demands a clean take‑off, ring‑run, and runway landing. Points are tallied for time, damage, fuel use and landing softness, shaping the difficulty of later tests.
Excelling opens up skydiving, a human‑cannonball shot, and the spring‑booted Jumble Hopper, plus a whimsical Birdman mode that lets you roam four detailed islands. One island is a miniature United States, complete with recognizable landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and a Mount Rushmore where Mario’s face replaces Washington’s, peppered with hidden Nintendo Easter eggs.
