Summary

NBA Jam 99 packs a visual punch with award‑winning hi‑rez graphics and a fully 3D sports engine that renders over 300 real‑life faces and smooth skin textures. The game swaps the classic 2‑on‑2 formula for authentic 5‑on‑5 matchups, even letting you run the Bulls’ famous triangle offense or unleash wild dunks in the extra‑charged Jam mode.

Beyond the on‑court action, you can build and manage your own roster—draft, trade, sign or release players, and watch the season unfold with genuine uniforms, schedules and arena announcements from Dan Roberts. Commentary from Kevin Harlan and Bill Walton adds a courtside feel, while Keith Van Horn’s motion capture gives the moves a realistic edge.

The cover star, Van Horn, also represents the game’s attention to detail, though Michael Jordan is missing due to licensing, replaced by a placeholder named Roster Guard. Showcased at E3 1998, the N64 version earned favorable reviews for delivering a deep, arcade‑style basketball experience.
