Summary

Mario 64 Sonic Edition Plus v2.2.2, often just called Sonic Edition Plus, is a fan‑made hack that rewires Mario’s moves to feel like Sonic from the SA series. The core idea is simple: keep the familiar 120‑star quest but let you sprint, spin‑dash and bound through the world with Sonic‑style momentum. Compared to the earlier Sonic Edition by Thodds, Gamebun’s Plus version swaps the level textures, models and voice clips for a more cohesive Sonic aesthetic while preserving the same underlying Mario 64 engine. Walking is noticeably faster, Z lets you curl into a rolling ball, and a crouch‑plus‑B combo unleashes a classic spindash; even the dive becomes a homing attack and the ground‑pound turns into SA2’s bound jump. Swimming is gone, but you can perform infinite jumps underwater, and the new physics let you run across water surfaces, making star hunting feel fresh and frantic.
