Summary

Knockout Kings 2000 lets you step into the ring with a roster that reads like a Hall of Fame catalog – from Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano to Marvin Hagler and Evander Holyfield. You can swing in a fast‑paced Slugfest for pure arcade thrills, or shift to an Exhibition bout that leans toward a more realistic feel. The game even lets you recreate iconic showdowns such as the Thrilla in Manila, and you can build a custom fighter to climb the championship ladder.

Three core modes – Championship, Slugfest and Training – give you control over the whole preparation cycle, something the previous edition lacked. A “Super Punch” mechanic can drop opponents in an instant, adding a dramatic punch‑out moment to any match.

The soundtrack features a one‑off single, “In the Game,” by Los Angeles rapper O, which was bundled with coupons that shaved dollars off the purchase price. The track sold about 25,000 copies.

Critics were split: the PlayStation version earned praise for its realism, while the Nintendo 64 port drew mixed reactions, with some reviewers calling it a must‑play for N64 fans and others saying it lacked the stamina to be a true champion.
