Summary

Iggy's Reckin' Balls throws you into frantic vertical races where you fling a grappling hook to pull yourself up twisted towers. The tracks loop, warp and burst with shortcuts, and each lap ends with the tower collapsing behind you.

Up to four racers can clash in Arcade, Mix‑up, Time Trial or Battle, while power‑ups litter the 100 courses giving temporary tricks. Eight starter balls sport distinct personalities, and nine secret characters hide behind unlockable challenges.

The game’s quirky hook mechanic traces back to the 1988 classic Bionic Commando, a nod that the developers at Iguana Entertainment embraced after a two‑week prototype convinced Acclaim to greenlight the project. Originally pitched under the name “Wrecking Balls,” it landed on the N64 in 1998 and resurfaced on the Nintendo Classics service in 2024.

Critics were split, landing the title around the mid‑60s percent range, but fans still appreciate its blend of chaotic climbing and cartoonish combat.
