Summary

Custom Robo V2 (often just called Custom Robo 2) expands the original’s arena combat by letting you tag‑team your robots, a mechanic that didn’t reappear until the GameCube’s Custom Robo. The game splits cleanly between a free‑roaming overworld—where you can explore, talk to NPCs, and chase down every missing Robo, part, and item—and fast‑paced 3‑player battles that can even accommodate a fourth player for the first time in the series. Each match pits you against opponents with 1,000 hit points, and you launch your Robo from a Robocannon, choosing from six possible landing angles before unleashing guns, bombs, pods, and dash attacks. An endurance bar sits above the health gauge; once it’s depleted the Robo is downed, then briefly invincible during its rebirth. The title debuted in Japan in late 2000, moved to virtual consoles years later, and still holds a nostalgic spot for collectors, having sold over 62,000 copies in its opening week.
