Summary
Chameleon Twist lets you swing through its six themed worlds using a surprisingly versatile tongue. By pulling the analog stick you can launch the tongue like a pole‑vault, snag distant power‑ups, swallow enemies and even swing around poles to cross gaps – a mechanic that feels fresh even by today’s standards.
A short five‑room training area teaches these moves before you dive into mostly indoor stages that end in quirky boss battles. Hearts replenish your health, but the game’s low difficulty and brief length make it feel like a gentle introduction to 3D platforming, clearly aimed at younger players.
Up to four friends can jump into a separate battle mode, choosing between a Battle Royal where the last chameleon standing wins, or a Time Trial that rewards the least‑fallen competitor. While the options for difficulty and stage selection are decent, reviewers found the multiplayer far less engaging than the single‑player adventure.
Critics were split: many slammed the camera angles, repetitive saccharine music and modest graphics, yet some praised the cute aesthetic and the novelty of the tongue mechanics. The game landed around a 59 % aggregate score, marking it as a nostalgic curiosity for fans of off‑beat N64 platformers.
Storyline
Chameleon Twist follows Davy, a blue chameleon who chases a rabbit that looks strikingly like Lewis Carroll’s White Rabbit. The rabbit leads him into a magical hole, and Davy emerges in a humanoid form, ready for adventure. Determined to return home, he teams up with his friends Jack, Fred, and Linda. Together they explore six distinct realms: Jungle Land, Ant Land, Bomb Land, Desert Castle, Kids Land, and Ghost Castle. Their ultimate goal is to locate the magic portal that will guide them back through the rabbit’s world and home again.
