Summary
Chameleon Twist 2 takes the quirky N64 platforming formula and stretches the levels out, giving each world a noticeably longer feel than its predecessor. The sequel swaps the original’s cartoonish chameleon heads for more realistic designs in the international version, and even flips the main characters’ colors, which makes the familiar cast feel fresh. New mechanics like a deployable parachute and vertical pole swings add a bit of aerial flair, while the ever‑present rabbit offers a one‑time invitation to a practice course – decline and that bonus disappears forever. Unfortunately, the game drops the multiplayer mode entirely and can be finished in a single day, a point critics highlighted alongside its "annoying" music and thin sound‑effect palette. Reviews were largely unfavorable, with Famitsu scoring it 24/40 and Nintendo Power previewing it months before the U.S. launch, while Official Nintendo Magazine praised the visuals but lamented the short length. Saves are handled via the Controller Pak, and the title was published by Sunsoft outside Japan and by Japan System Supply at home.
Storyline
Chameleon Twist 2 picks up right after the original adventure. Davy, Jack, Fred and Linda are hanging out in the forest, still lugging the backpacks from their previous quest. Suddenly the rabbit – a clear nod to Lewis Carroll’s White Rabbit – reappears and sends one of the chameleons soaring into the sky. The airborne chameleon morphs into a more humanoid, upgraded version of itself. Now the hero must track down six carrots hidden across six distinct worlds such as Ice Land, Carnival Land and Sky Land.
