Summary
Blues Brothers 2000 lands on the Nintendo 64 as a colorful platformer that riffs on the movie’s music‑mad mayhem. You kick off trapped as Elwood, escaping prison and racing to reunite the band in under two days for the Battle of the Bands—saving the guitarist and taking down the corrupt warden along the way before meeting up with Mac, Buster and the rest of the crew in Chicago. Titus Interactive handled publishing while the French studio’s pre‑production team handed development off to Player 1, after brief talks with H2O Entertainment and three other firms. Despite plans for a late‑1999 launch, the title slipped to an October 13, 2000 release in Europe and hit North America on November 17, 2000, two years after the film. Critical response was mixed: GameRankings averaged 50.89%, Metacritic 32/100, with Nintendo Power giving a modest 6.8/10 and Official Nintendo Magazine praising the solo adventure at 85/100 while bemoaning the weak multiplayer.
Storyline
In Blues Brothers 2000 for the Nintendo 64 you begin the adventure locked up as Elwood in Joliet prison, racing against a two‑day deadline to reunite the band for the Battle of the Bands. After breaking free you rescue the guitarist Cab and take down the corrupt warden, then dash through the streets of Chicago hunting for your brother Mac and the missing bassist Buster.
The chase leads you across rooftops and into Willie’s Club, where Mac is being held. Defeating Willie frees Mac, who reveals that Buster fled to an old graveyard. There you confront a twisted, evil tree that has trapped Buster in a cage.
The climax erupts in a murky swamp, where you battle the tree’s minions and finally free Buster, securing the band’s chance to rock the competition.
