Summary

Big Mountain 2000 lets you strap on a snowboard or a pair of skis and race down four snowy courses as one of six characters, each with its own blend of speed, cornering and "cool" stats. You can fine‑tune your rider’s gear – from boards to jackets – to boost strengths or cover weaknesses, then pick from Free Ride, slalom or giant slalom tracks. The game offers a single‑player Championship, a Time Attack sprint, and a multiplayer battle mode where friends can duke it out for the best times.

Tricks are pulled off by flicking the control stick and hitting B mid‑air, while a stamina meter drains after crashes, collisions or rough landings, making recovery slower each time you fall. As you rack up points, your racer climbs the ranks from Amateur to Snow Speeder, unlocking extra outfits along the way. Completing every race on all four stages unlocks a mirror‑mode Championship, and beating that twice reveals three hidden characters.

Known in Japan as Snow Speeder, the title debuted at the 1997 Tokyo Game Show and hit North America two years later. Critics gave it an average reception, landing around the mid‑60s percent range on review aggregators.
