Summary

If you’re into retro action with a green‑thumb twist, Zen: Intergalactic Ninja delivers a surprisingly eco‑centric beat‑’em‑up on the NES. You play as Zen, a no‑nonsense ninja who’s been dropped onto a planet choking on its own waste, and the game throws you into twelve distinct stages packed with toxic foes and pollution‑themed hazards.

What sets it apart is the mix of scrolling perspectives – you’ll sprint across horizontal streets, climb vertical shafts, and even tackle 3/4‑view sections that make the environmental chaos feel fresh at every turn. The controls feel slick, especially when you swing the Photon‑Stick to zap gaseous garbage men or spin‑kick the smog‑laden boss Smogger.

Beyond the main run‑through, the title tacks on a bonus recycling level and a string of six quirky subgames that lead you straight to the final showdown with Lord Contaminous. It’s a quirky, high‑energy tribute to clean‑up crews, all wrapped in classic 8‑bit charm.
