Summary
Yoshi’s Cookie drops you into a bright, rectangular grid sprinkled with five types of cookies plus a occasional Yoshi‑shaped wild card. By moving a cursor you can rotate whole rows or columns, lining up identical treats until an entire line disappears—much like a tasty twist on Tetris. Each cleared line shrinks the board, and the goal of every level is to erase every cookie before the grid overflows from the top and right edges.
The game offers a single‑player Action Mode with progressively trickier stages and a split‑screen VS Mode for two competitors. It originally began as the arcade title Hermetica before Nintendo rebranded it with Mario characters and a whimsical soundtrack featuring a version of “Csikós Post.” After its 1993 North American debut, it resurfaced on the Wii Virtual Console in 2008, and Nintendo Power even ranked it the fifth‑best NES game of that year.
Storyline
In Yoshi’s Cookie, Mario and Yoshi have swapped their usual adventures for a surprisingly hectic job at a cookie factory. The ovens have gone berserk, spewing baked goods like a rapid‑fire machine gun. It’s up to the duo to sort and stack the on‑coming treats before the piles overflow. The frantic pace turns a simple confectionery line into a high‑stakes puzzle. Their mission is clear: keep the factory orderly and the cookies from stacking out of control.
