Summary

The Great Waldo Search (often just called Great Waldo Search) translates the third Waldo book into a scrolling puzzle adventure on the SNES. Each scene is a slightly animated tableau that stretches horizontally, inviting you to glide a magnifying glass across the screen with the directional pad while hunting for Waldo, his trusty dog Woof, and a handful of hidden items.

The magnifying glass feels surprisingly tactile, and when you spot Woof a bonus round kicks in: you steer the pup across a flying carpet, scooping up points in a quick, arcade‑style dash. It’s a neat little payoff that breaks up the methodical search and adds a burst of kinetic fun.

The game is divided into five whimsically titled stages—The Carpet Flyers, The Underground Hunters, The Battling Monks, The Unfriendly Giants, and The Land of Waldos—each packed with its own visual quirks. The SNES version’s credits list William B. Norris IV on programming, producers Philip Ho and Doug Braun, an art team led by Wendy Salin and Mike Mangano, Doug Brandon’s music, and Howard Phillips as executive producer.
