Summary

The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt on the NES feels like a stripped‑down cousin of the SNES adventure that many of us grew up with. Enigma Variations handled the port, swapping Gomez for his mischievous brother Pugsley and trimming the original's freezer and crypt levels down to their boss fights only. Every stage is shorter, the usual soundtrack is gone, and the familiar swords and golf‑ball weapons never appear, giving the game a quieter, more platform‑focused vibe. Despite the leaner design, the game still drops passwords when you pause – a handy twist that lets you pick up right where you left off, unlike the console version that only offered them after each boss. All of these quirks make the NES edition a unique little slice of Addams Family nostalgia for collectors.

Storyline

In The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, the game’s story follows the mischievous brother Pugsley as he tries to win a scavenger hunt set up by his sister Wednesday. Wednesday challenges him to locate a specific item hidden in each family member’s bedroom. The hunt leads Pugsley through the quirky, gothic rooms of the Addams household, from Morticia’s boudoir to Gomez’s study. Each room holds a single clue or object he must retrieve to advance.
Success means Pugsley proves his resourcefulness and earns Wednesday’s begrudging respect, while failure leaves him tangled in the family’s macabre antics. The simple premise drives the platforming action across the mansion’s eerie corridors.
