Summary

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary drops you into the captain's chair of the U.S.S. Enterprise, blending point‑and‑click puzzle solving with a first‑person starship simulator. Each of the eight missions lets you toggle between bridge commands—Scott on shields, Chekov on navigation, Sulu on orbit, Uhura on communications—and down‑range away‑team excursions with Kirk, Spock, Bones and a volatile redshirt. Moral choices and multiple solutions keep each encounter feeling fresh, whether you’re firing photon torpedoes at Romulan vessels or negotiating with alien artifacts on a planetary surface.
The game’s biggest wow factor is the full cast of the original series—Shatner, Nimoy, Kelley, Doohan, Takei, Koenig and Nichols—all delivering their lines straight into the adventure. Authentic music and sound effects ripped from the TV show amplify the immersion during bridge battles and atmospheric planet scans. Although it debuted in the early ’90s, it earned a Compute! Choice nomination and seeded a sequel, Judgment Rites, that wrapped up the two‑part saga.

Storyline

Star Trek: 25th Anniversary on the NES puts you in command of the USS Enterprise during its original five‑year mission, imagined as a fourth season. Each mission opens with a Starfleet Command transmission and is presented as a stand‑alone episode. Gameplay flips between ship‑to‑ship combat and a third‑person away‑team segment. The formula lets you explore strange worlds while seeking new life and civilizations.

In “Demon World,” Kirk investigates miners who say demons attack their tunnels, uncovering a hidden menace. “Hijacked” has the Enterprise rescue the captured USS Masada from Elasi pirates. “Love’s Labor Jeopardized” pits the crew against Romulan raiders and a biohazard at station Ark 7.

“Another Fine Mess…” drags Harry Mudd into a pirate‑infested derelict alien ship for the Enterprise to explore. In “Feathered Serpent,” a Klingon fleet hunts a supposed war criminal, and Kirk must locate the fugitive before war erupts. “That Old Devil Moon” finds an ancient missile base on an asteroid that still believes war is ongoing, threatening a pre‑warp world. “Vengeance” sends the crew to the wrecked USS Republic, reveals the attacker and stops the threat from striking again.
