Summary

Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six drops you into six side‑scrolling stages, each capped by a showdown with a different member of the Sinister Six – from Electro’s crackling bolts to Doctor Octopus’s whirring tentacles. The game leans heavily on classic platforming, but it sprinkles in a few puzzle moments where you must hunt down a key or a detonator to keep moving forward.

Your Spider‑Man can jump, punch, kick, duck, and even scale certain walls and trees, while web‑fluid pickups let you swing across gaps and fire the iconic square web projectiles. There’s no health‑item clutter; instead, chaining enemy defeats refills your power bar, and you only get a single life with one continue to make it count.

Compared with the Master System version, the NES title feels tougher: items sit in harder‑to‑reach spots, extra enemies linger, and bosses like Octopus and Mysterio require multiple health‑bar cycles before they finally fall.

Nintendo Power praised the game’s graphics, noting they capture the comic‑book vibe, but it also called out the control feel – a perfectly timed punch can sometimes sail right past its target, making precision a real challenge.

Storyline

In the NES title *Spider-Man – Return of the Sinister Six* (often just called *Return of the Sinister Six*), Doctor Octopus launches the crowning caper of his criminal career. He reunites the Sinister Six and sets a master plan in motion to rule the world. With the villainous team back together, nothing stands in their way—except Spider‑Man. The web‑slinger must battle each of the six foes, defeat them, and ultimately save the planet from Octopus’s global takeover.
