Summary

Sonic the Hedgehog Vol.2 on the NES lives on a community‑crafted patch that smooths out the rough edges of the original Somari conversion. The improvement hack, building on Jabu’s earlier work, strips away unused graphics and stray objects, giving the levels a cleaner look while preserving the classic platforming feel. I find the removal of stray objects instantly improves the flow of each zone.

New animations and refreshed sprites breathe a bit more life into Sonic’s spin, and the sound engine, originally tweaked by Ti_, has been overhauled for clearer effects. Oxygen timers have been shortened, making the underwater sections less punishing, and the long‑lost continue system has been reinstated, so players can pick up where they left off without restarting the whole zone.
