Summary

Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular! is a quirky six‑event sports compilation that pits you against the familiar faces of the Peanuts gang as you dash through boot‑throwing, pizza‑balancing, sack‑racing and other oddball challenges. Each contest unfolds against a backdrop of iconic Italian scenery – the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum and other Roman‑style architecture give the stages a surprisingly Mediterranean flavor. The game is essentially a home‑console translation of Gremlin Interactive’s Alternative World Games, a 1987 title that first appeared on the Commodore 64 and other home computers. Its graphics are prone to flicker and the color palette can go off‑kilter – the Japanese version even shows Donald Duck’s skin turning green or his hat shifting from blue to black. Two of the menu tracks were lifted from the Famicom version of Spy vs. Spy II, and the whole package reflects Kemco’s licensing shuffle: Disney’s Donald Duck was used in Japan, while the North American release swapped in Snoopy after Capcom held the Disney rights stateside.
