Summary

In *The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World* I guide Bart on a globe‑trotting scavenger hunt that takes him through four distinct zones – bustling China, a frosty North Pole, ancient‑looking Egypt, and a glitzy Hollywood set. Each region culminates in a showdown with a member of the Burns clan, from Fu Manchu Burns to the snow‑capped Abominable Snow Burns, giving the platforming a quirky family‑feud twist.

The levels are peppered with quirky power‑ups: firecracker balls let Bart blast foes, Squishees restore his health, and a cape transforms him into Bartman for brief, clumsy flights. The real prize, however, is a Krusty‑brand souvenir hidden in every stage; collecting them all unlocks a bonus Hollywood level and the game’s best ending, while the Simpsons themselves drop hints and mini‑games like matching cards and trivia from the early TV episodes.

Critics were split – Electronic Gaming Monthly’s scores hovered around the mid‑range, GamePro gave it a solid 80/100, and AllGame rated it 2.5/5 stars. By 1994 Acclaim had moved roughly 53,000 copies, a modest tally that reflects the game’s mixed reputation despite its nostalgic Simpsons charm.

Storyline

In the NES game "The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World" (often just called "Bart vs. the World"), Bart Simpson wins a Krusty the Clown art contest and is thrust into a round‑the‑world scavenger hunt. The contest is secretly rigged by Mr. Burns’ right‑hand man Smithers, who wants to get rid of the Simpson family once and for all.

As Bart darts across real‑world locales such as China, Egypt, the North Pole and Hollywood, he must collect various items while dodging agents and even other members of the Simpson clan sent by Burns. The ultimate goal is to secure a guest spot on the Itchy & Scratchy Show.
