Summary

Rush'n Attack (known as Green Beret outside North America) landed on the NES as a faithful conversion of Konami’s arcade run‑and‑gun. The soldier‑hero moves through four basic stages while wielding the trademark combat knife, and can snag weapons from enemies – the Rocket Launcher and grenades survive the transition, while the flamethrower disappears. The NES adds two brand‑new levels, an airport and a final base where rocket‑launchers are used to neutralize a nuclear missile.
A hidden timer pressures every run, and extra lives appear at the classic 30 k and 70 k score marks, scaling up to 980 k and then to “survival of the fittest” mode. Two‑player simultaneous coop, rare for the era, lets a friend join the invasion. Power‑ups include a brief invincibility star and an unlimited‑ammo pistol, both limited‑time buffs.
All of this keeps the Cold‑War‑flavored action tight, responsive, and still a standout side‑scroll challenge for NES owners today.

Storyline

Rush'n Attack (often called Rush 'n Attack) puts you in the boots of a U.S. Green Beret during the Cold War. In the original arcade version the Green Berets sneak into an enemy compound to free four prisoners of war who are about to be executed; after each rescue the rescued soldier salutes the player. The NES adaptation changes the goal: instead of rescuing POWs, the operative must destroy a secret weapon being built in the enemy headquarters. The final stage pits you against a nuclear missile that must be disarmed before it can launch. The game’s narrative is a straightforward infiltration‑and‑sabotage story set against a tense Cold‑War backdrop.
