Summary

Power Blade 2 (known in Japan as Captain Saver) expands the NES action formula with a Mega Man‑style stage select and a hefty suite of new abilities. After defeating a mid‑level boss you earn one of four permanent Power Suits: the Newt Suit for crawling ceilings and walls, the Wet Suit for extended swimming, the Rocket Suit for brief flight, and the Patriot Suit that boosts defense. The game lets you pick any of the first four buildings in any order before unlocking the fifth area, then thrusts you into a final showdown. New to the sequel is a sliding move and an expanded arsenal that makes the ancient Power Blade feel like a high‑tech multi‑tool. I love how the suits swap on‑the‑fly, letting you adapt to platforming puzzles without loading screens, and the retro graphics still feel crisp after three decades.

Storyline

Power Blade 2 (often just called Power Blade) drops players into December 24, 2200. The Delta Foundation, a weapons‑research corporation, has finished a cutting‑edge cyborg soldier. The U.S. President warns that if the government doesn’t purchase the prototype within a week, the company will sell it to a rival nation, creating a dangerous security risk. Nova, the hero from the original game, receives a covert order from the Department of Defense to infiltrate the Delta Foundation’s facilities and destroy the project. The mission drives the entire side‑scroll adventure as Nova battles through high‑tech labs and armed guards to stop the cyborg from falling into hostile hands.
