Summary

Pin Bot captures the feel of a real pinball machine on the NES by keeping the flippers anchored in the lower third of the screen while the rest of the playfield scrolls with the ball. A 5×5 grid sits in front of the robot’s visor, and hitting the two banks of targets lights the grid one or two units at a time; a fully lit grid opens the visor for ball‑locking, and a second lock triggers a two‑ball multiball that doubles all scores. During multiball you can re‑lock a ball and launch the other up the Solar Ramp for a big bonus.

Each successful Solar bonus advances the playfield through six color‑coded “levels” that keep the same layout but add quirky enemies. Level 2 drops a blob that tries to swallow the ball at the Sun, Level 3 introduces a missile‑carrying plane, Level 4 lets the plane snatch the ball, and Levels 5‑6 feature a snake lurking in the outlanes. Any captured ball can be freed by shaking the machine repeatedly. The ball itself morphs from a sphere to a triangular wedge and finally to a cube, each form moving faster and demanding tighter control.

The conversion faithfully reproduces the original machine’s artwork, music, and even Pin Bot’s synthesized speech, though the speech pauses the action while it plays. Sound, music and speech can be toggled on or off from a pause menu accessed with the second controller, since the first controller’s Start and Select buttons are reserved for nudging the virtual pinball.
