Summary
Overlord drops you into a sprawling real‑time strategic sandbox where managing massive standing armies is only half the challenge. Your grip on the Epsilon Galaxy’s economic capital and political stability can mean the difference between expansion and collapse, and every decision ripples through an ever‑shifting web of interstellar conflict.
The game lets you buy terraforming kits to reshape barren buffer planets into tropical farms, mineral‑rich volcanoes, energy‑producing deserts, or balanced city‑bearing worlds, then mine resources, levy taxes, and commission ships to shuttle troops across the cosmos. Once you’ve built battle cruisers or enlisted troops, you’re thrust into relentless engagements—there’s no retreat button, as the only way to cut the hyperspace link would be to vaporize your own homeworld, a political dead end you’ll gladly avoid.
Storyline
Overlord puts you in the boots of the dictatorial ruler of the Epsilon Galaxy, wielding absolute authority over its star systems. During a hyper‑drive experiment, Epsilon scientists stumble upon four “buffer” dimensions—empty planets that sit between the galaxy and an alien realm. Those same experiments alert the mightiest empires of the alternate dimensions to the existence of the buffers. Now you must lead your forces into these barren worlds, battling the invading alien species that seek to claim them. Victory secures the buffer zones and guarantees your continued domination of the Epsilon Galaxy.
