Summary

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Scroll feels like a prequel that slots neatly before the original NES adventure, expanding the lore without feeling tacked on. The game captures the same tight platforming and frantic combat that defined the series, yet it adds a few fresh twists that keep the experience lively. I appreciate how it respects the tone of the first title while giving players a glimpse of Ryu’s earlier challenges. It’s a solid bridge that rounds out the original trilogy for anyone revisiting the retro lineup.

Storyline

In Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Scroll, the peaceful Hayabusa Village is thrown into chaos when a rival clan steals a sacred relic. Ryu Hayabusa, the village’s legendary ninja, must embark on a perilous journey across dangerous lands to recover the stolen item and restore balance.
