Summary
Majou Densetsu II: Daima Shikyou Galious is essentially a polished remake of the original Maze of Galious, reshaped for the Family Computer in Japan on August 11, 1987. The developers swapped out the grainy sprites for brighter, more detailed graphics and completely redrew the maps, giving the platform‑adventure a fresher sense of exploration. Although Konami never shipped an official Western version, a dedicated fan community eventually released an English translation that lets non‑Japanese speakers experience the game on the original hardware. Years later the title resurfaced on PC via the i‑Revo storefront, preserving the Famicom experience for modern Windows users. The soundtrack even earned a spot in Scitron’s 2006 Legend Of Game Music Consumer Box, and contemporary Japanese magazines rated it solidly – Famitsu gave it 27/40, Family Computer Magazine 19.79/30, and Famimaga praised it as more enjoyable than its MSX predecessor.
Storyline
Majou Densetsu 2 – Daimashikyou Galious, known in the West as The Maze of Galious, picks up where its predecessor left off. The story follows Popolon, the heroic knight, and Aphrodite, the former damsel who now fights alongside him. Together they venture into the sprawling Castle Greek, a labyrinthine stronghold filled with monsters and puzzles. Their mission is deeply personal: to rescue their unborn child, Pampas, who has been captured by the malevolent priest Galious.
