Summary

Mach Rider drops you into the year 2112, where Earth is overrun by hostile Quadrunners. You pilot a high‑powered superbike, steering with the D‑pad, accelerating with A, and blasting obstacles with B. Shifting gears up and down lets you climb through four speeds, and hitting fourth gear at top speed delivers an instant boost—though staying in a high gear while stopped will make you crawl.

Points come from destroying enemies and hazards, but ramming foes into track obstacles not only nets extra points it also refills your ammo. The game offers several play styles: the Fighting Course strings together ten sectors, each with a choice of Track A or B, and after two cycles the original sectors repeat. Endurance challenges you to cover a set distance before time runs out, while Solo strips away the enemies entirely. Design Mode lets you craft custom tracks, a feature that originally required the Japan‑only Famicom Data Recorder but was revived on the Wii’s Virtual Console in 2007 (the 3DS version omitted it).

Originally a 1985 Famicom title, Mach Rider reached North America on the NES in 1986 and Europe in 1987, later surfacing on the Wii’s Virtual Console where saved tracks became possible for all regions.

Storyline
