Summary

M.C. Kids drops you into the goofy world of McDonaldland, where the mischievous Hamburglar has swiped Ronald’s magical bag and it’s up to the twin heroes Mick and Mack to chase him down. The NES platformer packs seven whimsically themed worlds, each introduced by a classic McDonald’s mascot, and lets two players alternate turns, picking up blocks to hurl at quirky foes like Goferit and I. Psycho.

The real kicker is the spin device: activate it and the screen flips, reversing gravity and opening whole new routes, while hidden “zippers” warp you instantly to far‑away sections of the same level. You can even snag a tiny boat, carry it in your inventory, then set it down to sail over watery gaps. These mechanics give the game a puzzle‑platform feel that feels fresh even beside titles like Super Mario Bros. 3.

An advertising photo showed art lead Darren Bartlett hanging upside‑down on the Virgin Games sign—a perfect visual for a game that literally turns you topsy‑turvy. A fan‑made “MC Mario” hack swaps the kids for Mario sprites, and contemporary reviews praised the bright graphics, inventive level design, and the wacky physics, earning the game solid scores across the board.

Storyline

The adventure in M.C. Kids kicks off when brothers Mick and Mack are reading a Ronald McDonald storybook at a meadow picnic. The Hamburglar bursts in and snatches Ronald’s Magic Bag, sending the duo off on a quest. Ronald directs them to search his clubhouse for four puzzle cards before pointing them toward Birdie’s treehouse.

After retrieving five cards from Birdie, the brothers learn the trail leads to Grimace’s loft in the Highlands, where they uncover two more cards and are sent to the Professor’s workshop. The Professor gifts them a rocket and hands over five of his own cards, then points them toward the moon.

On the moon, CosMc awaits and challenges them to find five lunar cards. Once completed, CosMc reveals a volcano entrance where the Hamburglar is believed to hide. Mick and Mack brave the volcano, confront the thief, and discover the Magic Bag has escaped.

The Magic Bag attacks with a flag, a wand and a rabbit in a hat, but the brothers defeat it. The game ends with Mick and Mack returning the bag to Ronald.
