Summary
Lunar Pool, known in Japan as Lunar Ball, was a breakthrough for home billiards games, giving players a choice of sixty uniquely shaped tables instead of the usual single green felt. Each table can be tweaked with an adjustable friction setting, so the balls roll as if under different gravities – a nod to the moon‑lit aesthetic that drapes the whole game.
The core loop is simple yet deep: set up the electronic cue, aim, choose power, and watch the cue ball ricochet to pocket colored balls while avoiding the dreaded cue‑ball sink. You lose a life after three consecutive misses or an accidental cue‑ball pocket, but clearing a level grants an extra life (or two if you’re flawless), and a “Rate” multiplier climbs with every successful shot, boosting your score.
Lunar Pool supports solo play, head‑to‑head against a friend, or a turn‑based battle with the computer, each turn ending when a player fails to pocket a ball or pockets the cue ball. The game ends when all lives are gone or you conquer all sixty stages, making it a true test of hustle and precision.
