Summary

Higemaru Makaijima: Nanatsu no Shira Daibouken, sometimes just called "Makai Island" in its unreleased NES version, expands the quirky world of the original Pirate Ship Higemaru into a full‑blown action‑adventure. You take the helm as Momotaru, a plucky sailor who must chase down seven island keys by boarding rival pirate ships – the ship‑combat feels lifted straight from the arcade predecessor, with just enough tweaks to keep it fresh on the home console. After each key is secured, the game shifts to top‑down island exploration that feels like a love‑letter to early Zelda titles: hidden items, boss battles, and treasure hoards await behind every dock gate. The blend of sea‑faring battles and dungeon‑crawling makes the title a unique, if overlooked, gem in Capcom’s 1980s catalog.
