Summary

Hanjuku Hero kicked off a quirky, Japan‑only series that blends real‑time strategy with a tongue‑in‑cheek sense of humor. Directed by Takashi Tokita and released under the Square banner (later Square Enix), the game introduced us to the eccentric Lord Almamoon, a hero tasked with rescuing his nation from recurring threats. While the title never got its own commercial soundtrack, fans were treated to a hidden gem: a bonus disc of 17 tracks tucked into the Hanjuku Hero VS 3D soundtrack release. Those tunes showcase some of Nobuo Uematsu’s earliest compositions, long before he became the legendary name behind Final Fantasy. It’s a neat reminder of how a modest strategy title can harbor the seeds of future gaming greatness.

Storyline

In Hanjuku Hero, the story follows Lord Almamoon, a young prince who must save his country from danger. The backdrop is a continent once unified by a king who wielded the power of a mysterious egg; after the king’s sudden death the realms rebelled. Almamoon must rally the few loyal followers and learn to use the egg’s power to bring order back to the continent.
