Summary

Free Fall started as a 2D action prototype from Color Dreams that never saw an official launch. The unfinished cartridge lingered in obscurity until 2010, when two hobbyist groups—National Games Depot (NDG) and The NES Dump—pulled it from the vault and offered it to curious collectors. A second wave arrived in 2017 when Piko Interactive gave the game another, slightly polished, release, keeping the experience alive on the original NES hardware.

The core of Free Fall is oddly simple yet oddly satisfying: you control a disembodied hand, snatching items as they cascade from the sky and flinging them back toward safety. The mechanic feels like a frantic juggling act, and the entire experience is wrapped in the nostalgic pixel palette that only the NES can deliver.
