Summary
Formula 1 Sensation (known in Japan as F‑1 Sensation) delivers an arcade‑flavored F1 experience on the NES, letting you line up against up to eleven rivals in a single sprint or a full Grand Prix weekend. Each race feels fast‑paced, with five‑lap sprints that encourage aggressive, even brawl‑like, driving.
The game features 18 circuits – the 16 from the 1992 season plus the historic Jerez and Phoenix tracks – accessible either in a free‑run mode or through a Grand Prix mode that forces a one‑lap qualifying run to set your grid position. You can pick any driver, and each is graded A, B, or C to mirror real‑world skill, which directly tweaks the difficulty.
Pit stops are announced via a team‑radio cue, and you’ll get a weather forecast before each session; occasionally the forecast flips mid‑race, demanding an unscheduled tire change. Collisions heavily damage opponents while only nudging your own stats, reinforcing the high‑risk, high‑reward feel.
Car customization starts with body style and paint, expanding later to deeper parts, all set against billboards advertising real brands like Shell and Nestlé. The soundtrack echoes other Konami NES titles, and the game supports both passwords and battery‑backed saves. The only notable regional tweak is the title and the placement of lap‑position readouts.
