Summary

Flight of the Intruder delivers a brutally realistic taste of 1972 aerial combat over North Vietnam, built on scenarios verified by actual Vietnam pilots. You launch from the USS Shiloh, selecting either an A‑6 Intruder or an F‑4 Phantom and can even swap between the cockpits mid‑mission—an option rare on the NES. Loadouts are fully configurable, and you may command a formation of up to eight allies (four of each aircraft type) while juggling sixteen difficulty variables. The game offers thirteen distinct missions, each anchored to authentic target photos, and the commander mode lets you design your own strike packages. Multiple view options let you peek inside the canopy or zoom out for full‑screen dogfights, while authentic weapon systems and enemy SAM fire make every sortie feel like a life‑or‑death test.

Storyline

Flight of the Intruder (sometimes just called Intruder) drops you into 1972, when an elite air corps flies over Vietnam. The game’s storyline follows your squadron’s covert missions, emphasizing the tension of night raids and the camaraderie of a tight‑knit crew. Each sortie reflects the high stakes of the Vietnam air war, putting you at the heart of the action.
