Summary
Exed Exes, known in the West as Savage Bees, drops you into a relentless vertical scrolling shooter where the screen is a buzzing hive of insect‑ and skull‑themed foes. The ship glides forward while you weave between waves, blasting enemies that occasionally transform into bright fruit when you snag a POW icon – a quirky scoring twist that feels oddly satisfying. I love how the two‑player co‑op lets a buddy jump in, turning the chaos into a shared dance of dodges and firepower. The soundtrack is oddly mysterious, looping over stark, inorganic backdrops that keep the focus on the frantic action. Over the years the title has resurfaced in several Capcom anthologies, letting new players experience its simple yet addictive formula without needing the original arcade cabinet.
Storyline
On a distant planet 6,000 light‑years from Earth, the industrial insects known as Exes were once harnessed for production. Their creators’ control falters when the Exes rise in rebellion, threatening everything they built. To stop the uprising, two battle machines—Colonel and Sergeant—are deployed to confront the swarming menace. The Exes are on the brink of completing a secret weapon called the Exed Exes, a device that could turn the tide of the conflict. The machines must destroy the weapon and crush the revolt before the Exes can unleash it.
