Summary

Eric Cantona Football Challenge: Goal! 2 is the French NES spin on the classic soccer sim, dressed with the French star’s name and likeness after his high‑profile move to Manchester United. The packaging leans heavily on Cantona’s image, turning a straightforward football game into a collectible for fans of the era.

The roster expands to 25 national men’s teams – eight more than the original – and you can pick any 11 players from a pool of 15, even swapping formations to suit your style. Modes include a single‑player exhibition, a two‑player competitive or cooperative match, and a “Super Cup” tournament, though the shoot‑out feature from the first game is gone.

Visually, Tose tweaked the pitch perspective, enlarged player sprites and goals, and added livelier inter‑match animations. Audio gets a boost too, with richer music and sharper sound effects. As the games‑db hype puts it, Goal! Two feels “too real, too fast, too good to be anything less than the best soccer game ever created for the NES.”
